Rashtriya Military Schools

Description
Rashtriya Military schools were established as King George’s Royal Indian Military schools to take care of the education of the sons of defence personnel. In 1952, the schools were reorganized on Public School lines and admissions were made open to the sons of Defence Service Officers and civilians. In 1954, the school became member of the Indian Public Schools Conference (IPSC) and continues to be an active member till date. The schools were renamed Military Schools in 1966 and its old motto; ‘Play the Game’ was replaced with ‘ Sheelem Param Bhushanam ’ which means Character is the Highest Virtue. On 25th Jun 2007, the schools got their present name “Rashtriya Military School”. The school has several of its alumni occupying high positions in the Armed Forces and in other sectors doing stellar service to the motherland.
Admission Process
1. Rashtriya Military Schools located at Bangalore, Belgaum (Karnataka) Ajmer, Dholpur (Rajasthan) and Chail (Himachal Pradesh) Invite applications for admission to Class VI.

2. Rashtriya Military Schools are CBSE affiliated, fully residential public schools, which function under the aegis of Ministry of Defence.

3. Entrance Exam:

The Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to Class VI will be held on 15 Dec 2013 ( Sunday) The Exam will be automated OMR based in subjects of Intelligence, General Knowledge, Mathematics and English of Class V Standard.

4. Interview and Result:

Candidates who clear the CET and are figuring in the merit list will be required to appear for Interview at respective Rashtriya Military Schools. Final merit list will be prepared after the Interview. Results will be hosted on Army Intranet Home Page under the heading ' What is new on MT Directorate Home page under the heading 'Result' and also on www.indianarmy.nic.in

5. Applications Forms:

Prospectus and Application forms can be obtained from any of the Rashtriya Military Schools by paying Rs 350/-( Rs 175/- in case of SC/ST , copy of the Caste certificate to be submitted). Applicants to forward self address envelope of size 31 cm x 25 cm affixed with Rs 60/- stamps for Prospectus and application form along with Demand Draft for the amount payable at respective Rashtriya Military School ( in favor of " Principal , Rashtriya Military School") ALL APPLICATIONS WILL ONLY ROUTED THROUGH RASHTRIYA MILITARY SCHOOLS. All details pertaining to list of Exam Centers etc are given in the Application form. Last Date for submission of filled in applications form is 20 Sep 2013.

6. Eligibility:

(a) Age. Only boys between 10 to 11 years of age for Class VI of age as on 01 Jul 2014 are eligible for admission. Six months relaxation in upper age limit is permissible for the wars of personnel killed in action.

(b) Education. Candidates should have passed Class V for Cass VI from a govt / recognized school before the date of admission to a Rashtriya military school. However, a student studying in Class V is eligible to appear in the respective Entrance Test.

(c) Medical Selected Candidates will have to undergo medical exam at the Command/Zonal and other Military Hospitals as nominated by the Director General of Medical Services prior to admission and only those found medically fit will be offered admission.

7. Reservation of Vacancies:

a) 70% for wards of JCOs/OR of Army , Navy and AF ( including Ex-servicemen).
b) 30% for wards of Officers of Army, Navy and AF (including retired Officers) and wards of civilians.
c) 50 seats are reserved for wards of service personnel Killed in Action. Note: 15% and 7.5% seats are reserved for SC and ST in all categories.

8. Important Instructions:-
(a) The parents/ candidates should exercise due care while filling up the application form. If on verification or otherwise at any subsequent stage, incorrect entries or some variations are found, then the candidature will be liable to be rejected.

(b) Verification of Eligibility conditions with reference to original documents is taken up only after the candidate has qualified for Interview/Admission Test.

(c) Candidates should also note that once a Date of Birth has been claimed by them and entered in the records of the form for the purpose of admission, no change will be allowed subsequently on any ground whatsoever.

Reservation of Seats
a) 67% of seats are reserved for the wards of JCOs, or those in the Army, the Navy and the Air Force, including ex-servicemen. 20% of the seats are reserved for the wards of officers and 13% for the wards of civilians.

b) 15% and 7.5% of the seats in each of these categories are reserved for SC and ST candidates.

c) 10 seats in each Rashtriya Military School are reserved for wards of personnel killed in action.

Facilities
The school is located in the heart of the city with the sylvan surroundings filled with groves of trees and birds. It has a beautiful infrastructure which includes:

1. The Office Building

It is a red brick building of Victorian vintage with all its majestic solemnity is at the first entrance of the school campus. It houses the offices of the Principal, the Administration Officer, the school office, the staff room and the conference hall.

2. Auditorium

It is the place where many young cadets get an opportunity to hone up their skills. It stages many Inter house co-curricular activities, cultural programs, morning assembly, motivational lectures and also the entertainment centre where the cadets are shown the English and Hindi movies every week.

3. Library

The school library houses many selected and classified books of different languages, genres, and disciplines.

4. Cadets’ Dormitory

This is the place the cadets imbibe the true Georgian spirit from their peers and seniors.

5. 110- Dormitory

This is an exclusive boarding for the new entrants in class sixth. They are specially mentored by four teachers and a Hostel Supdt. They are guided about every activity of the school by the dorm prefects of the Cariappa House .

6. Cadets’ Mess

This is the place the cadets feel at Home away from Home. The cadets are provided with a well planned nutritional diet in every meal of the day.

7. ‘Nischay’- The motivational hall

The school museum, which houses many valuables things of yester years and many motivational exhibits. It is also attached with a Photo Gallery.

8. Play fields

The School boasts of being the only school in Bangalore to have 20 play grounds which include a synthetic basket ball court, six-a side hockey turf field, hockey grounds, football grounds, cricket grounds, swimming pool etc.

9. Laboratories

The school has laboratories for Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Art, Wood work, Computer and an English Language Lab.

10. Staff room

It serves as a conference room also for the Staff meetings. It has every facility which is required for a teacher.

Fees Structure
Tuition fee with respect to different categories given below (SC and ST candidates are required to pay one fourth of the amount mentioned below)

1. Rs 4800/- per annum for OR
2. Rs 7200/- per annum JCOs
3. Rs 15,000/- per annum for Officers
4. Rs 24000/- per annum for civilians
